Covid-19 Policy for Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney

As a community, we are all impacted by the evolving situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our hearts go out to all of those more severely affected, and we are sincerely grateful for our dedicated health care providers and others who risk their own health for the benefit of our community.

As the situation involving the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to evolve, we want to let you know that Sound Estate Planning is open and prepared to support all your legal needs.

We remain committed to providing high quality estate planning services to our clients. Your calls and e-mails will be answered, and we are able to continue providing these important services as follows:

Our staff is making the transition back in the office, and we are open from 8:00am-5:00pm.

Consultations and annual meetings are still being conducted by telephone or online communication, including video conference. If necessary, we can meet in person.

Signings for documents such as Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives are generally being provided in three ways, as shown below. For each method of signing, we review your plan and related documents by telephone or video conference prior to the actual signing.

i. In-Office “Expedited” Signing. The in-office meeting is limited to obtaining signatures, with a notary and witnesses present as necessary.

ii. Drive-Through Signing. Rather than signing in our office, you will sign documents in your car, with a notary and witnesses present as necessary.

iii. On-Site Signings. If feasible, we may visit your location to complete the signing.

To protect our clients and employees, we conduct all signings and office time in accordance with currently published CDC guidelines. This currently means distancing and masks at all times.

Stay Healthy and Safe,

The Sound Estate Planning Team
